A pioneering daughter of the 20th century, Ruth Flashoff was born in London in 1908 and arrived in New Zealand in 1916. After graduating from Auckland University she became one of the first women to study journalism. A stalwart of the NZ Women Writers Society, she contributed to a long list of daily papers and periodicals and published a biography of Reremoana Hakiwai in 1981. Ruth's life has focused on community service and world peace.
