Publishers Distribution Ltd has been servicing the New Zealand book trade for over 40 years. It began life as the wholesale division of School Supplies Ltd, known as Educational Distributors Ltd (EDL) and its primary focus was distributing school texts and associated materials.
In 2007 the EDL business was acquired by Susan Holmes, Mike Hill, Kevin Jones (deceased) and Charles Goulding. The name was then changed to Publishers Distribution Ltd (PDL) to reflect that this new partnership would now look to service a wide range of publishers needing distribution to the New Zealand book market.
The guiding philosophy behind PDL is that if publishers are to realise the full potential of their titles in the NZ market they need the support that only local warehousing can provide.
From their Northcote premises on Auckland’s North Shore, PDL’s dedicated team are combining their long history of service to the NZ book trade with up to the minute systems to create a strong, effective, dynamic, responsive and independent service to support our publisher clients and the booksellers of New Zealand.
PDL has extensive experience in supplying the retail sector. Being a privately owned New Zealand company, PDL is able to be flexible in meeting the needs of independent booksellers while at the same time meeting the sophisticated delivery and invoicing standards of New Zealand's largest retail chains. PDL’s customers include Paper Plus, Whitcoulls, The Warehouse, Briscoes, Ezibuy, Cotton On, and many more.
PDL provides services to publishers of completed works; however PDL does not assess unpublished manuscripts for publication.
